The delegation of the Moroccan national football team set forth on its return journey to Morocco on Wednesday evening through a private flight, with a layover in the Ivorian economic capital, Abidjan.
According to insider information obtained by “Hesport,” the aircraft carrying the Moroccan national team’s delegation departed from San Pedro Airport to Abidjan before continuing its flight to the capital, Rabat, with an expected arrival late tonight.
The flight includes all players, technical staff, and administrative personnel.
It is anticipated to land at Rabat-Salé Airport later tonight, following the team’s bitter exit from the Africa Cup of Nations at the hands of South Africa in the Round of 16.
The Moroccan national team, along with its fervent supporters, had hoped for an extended stay in Ivory Coast and a second title in the nation’s football history.
However, the defeat against South Africa, with a score of 2-0, hastened the departure of “The Lions” from this continental competition.
The Africa Cup of Nations, hosted by Ivory Coast, will conclude on February 11.
The final match will take place at Abidjan’s “Houphouet-Boigny” Stadium.
