The Moroccan national football team conducted its inaugural training session in San Pedro, Ivory Coast, on Monday.
The team is gearing up for the tournament set to be hosted by Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11.
The Moroccan squad, led by Yassine Bounou, hit the ground running immediately upon arrival in San Pedro on Sunday.
The training session unfolded in an atmosphere charged with enthusiasm, following a break in the rainfall that had been prevalent in the city.
Munir El Mohammadi, the national team’s goalkeeper, expressed his satisfaction, stating, “Everything is going well, and I am happy to be here.”
Speaking to the official website of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, he added, “We are training hard in anticipation of the competition where we aim to achieve our goal.
We are in good conditions, and we know our fans are expecting us to bring them joy.
We will give our all to win the title.”
Bilal El Khnous, another player, mentioned, “We arrived yesterday, and everything is good here to prepare well.
We will continue working to be ready.
The hotel is good, and the pitch, I believe, is the best I have seen in Africa for training.”
He concluded, “Today, the temperature wasn’t too high, thank God.
We are following the coach’s instructions, and as usual, the Moroccan fans will be behind us in this competition.”
The national team is scheduled to face Sierra Leone in a friendly match next Thursday as part of their preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations.
The cancellation of the friendly against Gambia has prompted the team to focus on fine-tuning their strategies ahead of the challenging tournament.
Morocco is placed in Group Six alongside Tanzania, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
