In a highly symbolic session at the House of Representatives, several Moroccan parliamentary groups took the floor to congratulate Fouzi Lekjaa for the successful organization of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The tributes came in the presence of Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, who was attending the oral questions session alongside the minister delegate in charge of the Budget, who also serves as president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).

Leaders of the PAM, PPS, USFP and Popular Movement groups, joined by MPs from the Constitutional Union/Democratic Social Movement grouping and the Istiqlal Party, saluted Lekjaa for faithfully implementing the “directives of King Mohammed VI” that underpinned the success of the 35th edition of the tournament.

They stressed that Morocco managed to deliver a high-level competition despite “hostile manoeuvres by detractors and plotters”.

Before answering questions on the execution of the 2025 budget, Lekjaa expressed his “thanks” to King Mohammed VI for the trust and support granted to organize AFCON 2025 on Moroccan soil.

He deliberately avoided mentioning the incidents that marred the final between Morocco and Senegal on 18 January, focusing instead on the broader image of organizational success and national pride.
