Elyounoussi set the tone early, finding the net in just the second minute after controlling a precise cross from Marcos Lopez and guiding a composed strike into the bottom left corner.

Villarreal levelled shortly after the break through Santi Comesana, who capitalised on a loose ball inside the box to make it 1-1.

Copenhagen responded immediately, and just a minute later, Elias Achouri restored their lead with a superb first-time finish following a pass from Yoram Zague.

The Spanish side struck back again in the 56th minute when Tanitoluwa Oluwaseyi cut inside and drilled a powerful effort into the bottom corner to bring the score to 2-2.

The decisive moment arrived in the 89th minute, with Elyounoussi once again at the centre of the action. After his initial effort was blocked, the rebound fell kindly to Andreas Cornelius, who rifled a brilliant shot into the top right corner to seal the win for Copenhagen.

Elyounoussi’s influence on the match proved decisive, underscoring his importance as Copenhagen celebrated a crucial Champions League victory away from home.
