Moroccan midfielder Azzedine Ounahi’s Greek revival spurs transfer buzz

Azzedine Ounahi’s market value declines amid Panathinaikos loan move

Azzedine Ounahi, the Moroccan midfielder once hailed as a rising star after his standout World Cup performance, is thriving on loan at Panathinaikos.

Despite struggling to find his form at Olympique de Marseille, Ounahi has become a key player in Greece, delivering a goal and two assists in his last six appearances under coach Rui Vitoria.

Panathinaikos is reportedly eager to keep the 24-year-old permanently but aims to negotiate the €11 million purchase option initially agreed upon. Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos revealed that the club is seeking to secure Ounahi for a reduced fee.

OM, however, may face challenges recouping their initial €10 million investment, as Transfermarkt also values Ounahi at that amount. For Marseille to profit, other suitors would need to step in and raise the bidding stakes.

Ounahi’s resurgence in Greece has reignited his career, but whether Panathinaikos or another club will secure his services remains a question of negotiations and market interest.
