Adam Aznou is on the verge of joining Getafe following a short-lived return to Bayern Munich, marking another twist in the Moroccan international’s bid for regular first-team football.
The 19-year-old left-back, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Real Valladolid, had hoped to break into the Bayern senior squad upon his return in May.
During his time in Spain, he featured in 13 matches—10 of them as a starter—earning praise for his performances and reaffirming his growing potential.
However, Aznou’s hopes of staking a claim at Bayern were quickly dashed. Despite being included in the squad for the Club World Cup, the former Barcelona academy graduate managed just eight minutes of action, coming off the bench in the Bavarian side’s 10-0 opening victory over Auckland City. That fleeting appearance proved to be his only involvement in the competition.
Disappointed with his limited playing time, the Moroccan defender made it clear that he would seek alternative options if his situation did not improve.
With the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations looming—scheduled to be held in Morocco from 21 December to 18 January—Aznou has been eager to secure consistent playing time in order to retain his place in the national squad.
He has already earned three senior caps for the Atlas Lions and is determined to add to that tally in the upcoming continental tournament.
His public stance appeared to accelerate interest from La Liga clubs. Both Getafe and Real Betis reportedly explored the possibility of signing the young full-back, seeing value in his technical ability and attacking instinct down the flank.
According to Africasoccer, Getafe have now moved into pole position to complete the deal, with an agreement expected to be finalised in the coming hours.
While the specific terms of the transfer remain undisclosed, early indications suggest the move could be another loan arrangement. Bayern Munich are believed to still hold the player in high regard and may view the spell in Spain as a further opportunity for Aznou to gain experience at a top-flight level.
Aznou, who rose through the youth ranks at Barcelona before switching to Bayern in 2022, has long been seen as a player with significant upside. However, with fierce competition for places at the Bundesliga giants, breaking into the senior set-up has proven challenging.
The potential switch to Getafe offers a renewed opportunity for the Moroccan youngster to showcase his qualities in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues. For both club and country, the coming months could be pivotal in his development.
If the move goes through as expected, Aznou will be hoping to establish himself quickly at Getafe and make a strong case for inclusion in Morocco’s AFCON squad later this year. For now, the priority remains the same: regular football, consistent form, and a chance to prove he belongs at the top level.
