Moroccan League: Will foreign referees have the final say?

الدوري المغربي 1024x569 1

Amid circulating rumors suggesting that the Moroccan league may employ foreign referees for crucial matches, a reliable source close to the Professional League, which oversees the Moroccan league, has denied such claims.

Speculation had emerged recently regarding the possibility of using foreign referees, particularly for matches of significance, such as those determining the league title race between Royal Army and Raja Casablanca, or those crucial for relegation battles.

However, a source informed Koora, stating, “There is no truth to this measure as its implementation is currently impossible. The matter has not been studied from the outset, and its execution requires ongoing communication with the federations to which any foreign referee belongs.”

Further elaborating, the source emphasized, “The concerned parties should be informed within a reasonable timeframe, which has not been the case.”

Regarding the current debate surrounding the performance of some local referees, the source added, “While we acknowledge the current buzz around the performance of some local referees, it is crucial not to exaggerate matters and portray them as catastrophic.”

“It is also important not to undermine the work and performance of some Moroccan referees merely because some have made mistakes in a few matches, as this is a global phenomenon,” the source stressed.

Concluding the statement, the source affirmed, “Nevertheless, confidence in Moroccan referees will continue in the remaining league matches,” recalling the presence of seven Moroccan referees in the last Africa Cup of Nations edition held in Ivory Coast.
