The Moroccan Lawyers’ Club has announced it is pursuing disciplinary action following remarks made by the president of the Senegalese Football Federation, Abdoulaye Fall, which it has described as “unacceptable and damaging to sporting institutions”.

In a statement issued on Monday, the organisation, known by its French acronym CAM, strongly criticised comments in which the Senegalese official allegedly accused Morocco of exerting influence within the Confederation of African Football.

According to the Club, the remarks went as far as suggesting hidden interference in the governance of continental football.

The Lawyers’ Club said it viewed the accusations as serious and unfounded, arguing that they crossed the line from legitimate sporting debate into an institutional attack.

In its view, the comments publicly challenged the credibility of CAF’s decision-making processes and called into question the integrity and impartiality of the governing body.

CAM stated that such claims undermine confidence in African football institutions and risk damaging their reputation both on the continent and beyond.

It accused the Senegalese official of abandoning reasoned criticism in favour of allegations that were not supported by evidence.

The organisation further argued that the remarks were defamatory in nature and harmful to Moroccan and African sports bodies.

According to the statement, this approach appeared designed to shift attention away from internal issues within the federation concerned by promoting suspicion and conspiracy narratives that threaten unity and stability within African football.

From a legal perspective, the Lawyers’ Club said the comments constituted a breach of ethical and disciplinary standards set out by both FIFA and CAF.

These regulations, it noted, require football officials to adhere to principles of neutrality, loyalty and respect towards institutions, obligations which CAM believes were not upheld in this case.

As a result, the Club confirmed its intention to formally refer the matter to the relevant authorities under existing disciplinary regulations.

It said the alleged actions could be classified as defamation and offensive behaviour, offences that may lead to sanctions ranging from substantial fines to long-term bans from football-related activities.

CAM also stressed that disciplinary procedures can be initiated through written complaints submitted by authorised individuals or entities, triggering investigations by the appropriate legal bodies.

In its concluding remarks, the Moroccan Lawyers’ Club stated that sporting disappointment, regardless of circumstance, cannot justify statements that harm the credibility of institutions.

It said Moroccan football could not accept what it described as irresponsible public comments, arguing that they undermine sporting ethics and run counter to the principles of solidarity and fraternity that should guide African football.
