Moroccan international footballer Younes Abdelhamid, a player for Stade de Reims in France, has announced that his tenure with the club will conclude at the end of the current football season, as the club’s officials have decided not to renew his contract, which expires in June.
Abdelhamid clarified, in a statement to “L’Équipe” newspaper, that Reims officials informed him days ago about their decision not to extend his contract, stating: “Disappointment? I wouldn’t say that.
Well… a little, because I didn’t expect it, especially in a season where my performance earned me a return to the Moroccan national team.”
The spokesperson continued, “I spent seven years at Reims, playing regularly and achieving good results.
When I learned, after the match against Lorient on February 11th, that my contract would not be extended, I was surprised and took time to process it… The most important thing is to finish the season well together… We will part ways in the best possible manner.”
Moroccan international Younes Abdelhamid, aged 36, has played 242 matches for Reims since joining the club in 2018 when they were in the French second division.
