Moroccan forward Younes Taha scores as FC Twente stun PSV Eindhoven in five-goal thriller

Moroccan forward Younes Taha opened his goalscoring account for the season as FC Twente secured an impressive 3-2 victory over PSV Eindhoven in the seventh round of the Dutch Eredivisie.

The 23-year-old attacker started the game and wasted little time making his mark, breaking the deadlock in the 14th minute to give Twente an early advantage.

Taha reacted quickest inside the penalty area after teammate Dauda Weidmann’s effort was parried by the PSV defence, firing the loose ball into the left corner of the net to put the hosts ahead.

The goal marked Taha’s first of the season for Twente after five appearances. During that period, the Moroccan had also registered two assists, underlining his growing contribution to the team.

PSV responded strongly and turned the game around before half-time. Guus Til restored parity in the 26th minute before completing his brace just three minutes later to give the visitors a 2-1 lead.

Twente refused to surrender and continued to push for a way back into the contest.

Their persistence eventually paid off in the 79th minute when experienced striker Wout Weghorst found the back of the net to level the score at 2-2.

Four minutes later, Weidmann completed Twente’s comeback, scoring in the 83rd minute to seal a dramatic 3-2 victory for the home side.

The result gives Twente a significant boost in the early stages of the Eredivisie campaign, while PSV were left to rue their failure to protect their advantage after taking control of the match in the first half.

AZ Alkmaar also benefited from the result, moving into sole possession of top spot in the Dutch league with 19 points.
