Moroccan international Soufiane Rahimi has revealed his ambitions with Al Ain this season after playing a decisive role in the club’s qualification for the semi-finals of the UAE Cup.
The forward expressed his delight after Al Ain’s convincing victory over Dibba, a result that secured a place in the last four of the competition.
Speaking after the match, Rahimi said that after spending five years with the club, his main objective is to lift the Cup trophy, a title that has eluded Al Ain for a long period.
Rahimi stressed his determination to help end the club’s wait for silverware, explaining that both he and the team have been without this particular trophy for more than five years.
He added that winning the Cup would be a special achievement, especially as a way of rewarding the unwavering support of Al Ain’s fans.
The Moroccan star capped an outstanding individual display by being named Man of the Match, having led his side with authority throughout the encounter.
Rahimi was the driving force behind Al Ain’s progress, scoring two of the three goals in the 3-0 win over Dibba. His brace proved decisive as Al Ain ended Dibba’s impressive run in the competition.
The match, played at Rashid Stadium in Dubai in front of around a thousand spectators, saw Al Ain book their place in the semi-finals of the UAE President’s Cup.
