Moroccan forward Chemsdine Talbi set for Premier League move to Sunderland

Chemsdine Talbi is set to join Premier League newcomers Sunderland in a €23 million deal from Club Bruges, marking a significant next step in the Moroccan striker’s burgeoning career.

The 20-year-old forward, born in Sambreville and developed at Club Bruges, is preparing to leave Belgium after two successful seasons in the professional ranks.

Talbi’s time with the Blauw & Zwart saw him claim two major domestic honours—a league title in 2024 and a Belgian Cup triumph in the current campaign.

Now, the promising winger is on the verge of a move to England, where he is expected to sign a long-term contract with Sunderland.

According to reports from Foot Mercato and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Sunderland have agreed terms with Club Bruges to buy out the remaining two years of Talbi’s contract.

The deal, valued at €23 million including performance-related bonuses, will see the Moroccan forward commit to the Wearside club until the summer of 2030.

The official announcement is anticipated shortly, as Talbi prepares for medical assessments ahead of finalising the move.

The transfer signals a bold move by Sunderland as they return to the Premier League following a nine-year absence.

The Black Cats are believed to view Talbi as a key figure in their long-term plans, part of an ambitious strategy to solidify their top-flight status.

Talbi, who represented Belgium at youth level before switching his allegiance to Morocco, has yet to make his senior debut for the Atlas Lions due to injury setbacks.

Nevertheless, his potential has not gone unnoticed. Across 44 appearances this season, he scored seven goals and registered five assists—impressive figures for a young winger still refining his game at elite level.

Comfortable on either flank but predominantly right-footed, Talbi’s pace, technical skill, and eye for goal have made him one of the most closely watched attacking talents of his generation.

His decision to commit to Morocco despite strong interest from Belgium at the senior level was seen as a significant boost for the North African nation, and his performances in Europe have only strengthened his case for future international selection.

Sunderland’s return to the Premier League has been marked by a deliberate focus on youth, and the addition of Talbi fits neatly into that vision.

The move to England’s top tier will present new challenges, but also the chance for the young forward to test himself against some of the world’s best defenders in one of the most competitive football environments.

For Club Bruges, Talbi’s departure represents the end of a developmental journey that began in the youth academy.

The Belgian club can reflect positively on his growth and contributions to their recent success, even as they part ways with a player who still has much to achieve.

As Talbi prepares for life in the Premier League, expectations will be high. But with the confidence of Sunderland behind him and the experience of top-level European football already under his belt, the Moroccan winger has all the tools to make his mark in England.
