Moroccan forward Amine El Ouazzani was on target for Braga on Thursday night, but his early strike was not enough to prevent a 2-1 defeat to Royale Union SG in the Europa League.
El Ouazzani opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a well-taken finish. Bruma showed great awareness to loft a header over the defense, setting up the Moroccan striker, who controlled the ball and fired it into the net to give Braga a 1-0 lead.
However, the Belgian side responded after the break. In the 50th minute, Ousseynou Niang played a clever pass into the box, finding Franjo Ivanovic, who guided a precise shot into the right corner to level the score.
Ivanovic struck again in the 74th minute to complete the comeback, cutting inside on the edge of the box before curling a brilliant effort into the bottom left corner. His stunning strike sealed the victory for Royale Union SG, leaving Braga empty-handed despite El Ouazzani’s early heroics.
Braga will now look to bounce back in their next European fixture as they aim to keep their knockout stage hopes alive.
On the matchday, Ghana forward Mohammed Fusseini featured for Royale Union SG and lasted the entire duration of the win for his team.
