Moroccan duo Achraf Dari and Reda Slim return to Al Ahly training
Moroccan internationals Achraf Dari and Reda Slim have returned to Al Ahly training after being officially registered in the club’s squad for the new season.
The duo took part in the Red Castle’s training session at El Tetsh Stadium, marking their return to the first-team setup after both players were linked with departures during the current summer transfer window.
Their reintegration comes as Al Ahly prepare for the opening match of their Egyptian Premier League campaign against Enppi at Cairo International Stadium on Sunday.
Dari and Slim are now available to Moroccan coach Hussein Ammouta, who has been overseeing preparations for the start of the league season.
The return of the two players provides Al Ahly with additional options as they begin what is expected to be another demanding campaign on both the domestic and continental fronts.
However, despite their registration and return to training, uncertainty continues to surround the long-term future of both players.
Their inclusion in Al Ahly’s squad does not necessarily mean that they will remain at the club for the entire season, with the possibility of a late move still understood to exist.
A transfer to the Moroccan league remains an option, with Wydad Casablanca and FAR Rabat reportedly monitoring the situations of the two players.
The Libyan league could also provide another potential destination, particularly because its transfer window remains open, allowing clubs in the country to continue strengthening their squads.
For Al Ahly, the situation presents an interesting dilemma. The club has now registered Dari and Slim and welcomed them back into training, but developments in the transfer market could still determine whether they remain part of the team’s plans.
Dari, who operates in central defence, and Slim, an attacking player capable of providing creativity and goals, could both offer valuable qualities to the squad if they stay.
Their return also further strengthens the Moroccan presence at Al Ahly.
The Egyptian giants currently have four Moroccan players on their books: Achraf Dari, Reda Slim, Achraf Bencharki and Youssef Belamri.
Belamri, however, is currently unavailable after suffering an injury during pre-season, leaving him on the sidelines as the team begins the new campaign.
The presence of several Moroccan players, alongside coach Hussein Ammouta, underlines the strong connection between Al Ahly and Moroccan football.
For now, Dari and Slim will continue working with the squad as Al Ahly focus on their opening league fixture.
The club will be hoping to start the Egyptian Premier League season positively, with expectations once again high following another busy period of squad building.
While both players have returned to the training ground and are officially registered, their futures remain unresolved.
The coming days could therefore prove decisive, particularly if interest from Morocco or Libya develops into concrete offers before the respective transfer windows close.
Until then, Dari and Slim remain Al Ahly players and will continue preparing with the squad, while the club waits to see whether they will stay in Cairo or embark on a new chapter elsewhere.
