Moroccan defender Noussair Mazraoui out until the international break – Ruben Amorim
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Moroccan defender Noussair Mazraoui will be unavailable until after the upcoming international break.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s Premier League trip to Brentford, the Portuguese coach delivered a stark fitness update which leaves United facing another reshuffle in defence.
Mazraoui, who has been a steady presence on United’s right flank, becomes the latest key player to join the injury list. The full-back’s absence compounds an already challenging situation for Amorim.
The head coach added that Lisandro Martínez remains sidelined and that Casemiro will also miss the match as he serves a suspension following his recent red card.
“Noussair Mazraoui is out also. He will not be back until the international break. Lisandro Martinez is out. Casemiro is out because of the red card.”
With three senior players out, Amorim will need to draw on his squad depth to piece together a makeshift backline for the visit to west London.
United head to Brentford looking to maintain their push up the Premier League table after a morale-boosting win against Chelsea last weekend.
However, with a patched-up defence and a difficult away record, Amorim faces another stern test of his tactical flexibility and squad management in a crucial fixture.
