Adam Masina set to join Al Shamal

Moroccan international Adam Masina is edging closer to a move to Qatar, with Al Shamal reportedly in advanced negotiations to sign the experienced defender this summer.

Al Shamal have identified defensive reinforcements as one of their priorities ahead of the new campaign, and Masina has emerged as one of the club’s preferred targets due to his extensive experience in European football.

According to reports, talks between Al Shamal and Masina’s representatives have progressed significantly, with the two parties reportedly close to reaching a final agreement.

Only one contractual clause is said to remain outstanding, which has delayed the completion of the transfer.

The Moroccan defender was also close to moving to Qatar during the January transfer window. However, the proposed deal eventually collapsed following disagreements involving his former agent and another party, leaving Masina without a club for the second half of the season.

The 32-year-old has since taken steps to reshape his career, including changing his representative in recent weeks.

That decision appears to have opened the door for renewed interest in his services, with Al Shamal now pushing to secure his signature.

Masina brings considerable experience to the table, having spent much of his professional career competing in European leagues. His versatility and defensive experience are believed to be key factors behind Al Shamal’s determination to complete the deal.

While the Qatari club remains the leading option at this stage, Masina is also understood to be attracting interest from clubs in Europe.

The coming days could therefore prove decisive for the defender as he weighs up his next move.

Should the final contractual issue be resolved, Masina would embark on a new chapter of his career in the Qatar Stars League, with Al Shamal hoping his experience can strengthen their defensive unit ahead of the new season.
