Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi has solidified his place in Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) history, becoming the club’s all-time assist leader.
The milestone came during PSG’s dominant 3-0 Champions League victory over Red Bull Salzburg, where Hakimi delivered two assists, bringing his total to 24.
This achievement ties him with former PSG legend Maxwell.
Luis Enrique, PSG’s manager, praised Hakimi’s development, emphasizing his defensive growth and leadership qualities.
“He’s more well-rounded now, especially in defence,” Enrique noted. “He’s mature and a great leader for his teammates.”
Hakimi’s performances this season have been exceptional. Named Le Parisien’s Player of the Month for November, the right-back has started all 13 matches in PSG’s current campaign, underlining his consistency and importance to the team.
His stellar form also led PSG to extend his contract last November, ensuring his stay with the French champions until June 2029.
The accolades don’t stop there for the Moroccan international. Hakimi is shortlisted for the prestigious African Player of the Year award, set to be announced in Marrakech on December 16.
Hakimi’s rise in football has been nothing short of remarkable. From Real Madrid’s youth academy to shining stints at Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan, the 25-year-old continues to establish himself as one of the game’s top defenders.
