Moroccan clubs await FIFA decision as transfer window deadline approaches

Moroccan clubs are facing uncertainty in the final hours of the transfer window, with the fate of several international signings dependent on whether FIFA approves an extension. The National Professional Football League has yet to issue an official statement clarifying the situation.

According to Moroccan website Al Botola, clubs have been left waiting for the outcome of correspondence and discussions over a possible extension instead of working to a clearly confirmed deadline and established procedures.

The issue goes beyond the closing date itself and concerns the way the transfer window is being managed. Clubs that based their planning on the possibility of extra time, and delayed some deals as a result, now face a race against the clock to complete their business.

The report said the position should have been settled and communicated to all clubs before the final hours of the window, particularly because any delay could directly affect their ability to complete transfers and register new players.

Clubs are now waiting for further details from meetings and official exchanges that remain unclear to them. They need to know whether they will be allowed to register foreign players, as well as Moroccan players arriving from outside the domestic league.

A further question concerns FIFA’s Transfer Matching System (TMS), and whether it will remain open for clubs to complete the procedures required for international transfers. The uncertainty has increased the pressure on teams at a particularly sensitive stage of the transfer market.

The report said the National Professional Football League must provide an urgent official explanation to resolve the dispute. It stressed that clubs were not responsible for the current lack of clarity and should not bear the consequences of delays in deciding the transfer deadline or the registration process.

The need for a ruling is especially pressing because the final hours of a transfer window are often decisive, with deals completed or abandoned at short notice. Without a clear decision, moves that clubs had planned in advance could be disrupted.

Moroccan clubs are therefore seeking what the report described as an “official and clear answer”, rather than being left to continue waiting.
