Moroccan attacker Sofiane Diop focuses on readiness at Nice
Moroccan international Sofiane Diop, a key player at French club Nice, is committed to maintaining strong form in Ligue 1 this season.
Diop addressed his absence from the national team, saying, “You should ask coach Walid Regragui about it. I won’t comment. I’m only focused on my performance with Nice.”
He clarified, “Coach Walid said you need to be effective for your club and put in the work to earn a national call-up. I do my job on the field, the rest is up to God and to him.” Diop’s numbers back up his efforts: he has scored six goals and provided one assist in ten league matches, making him one of Nice’s standout performers.
His versatility and consistency have drawn interest from Morocco’s coaching staff, especially given his ability to excel in various attacking roles. Diop, who was first called up for Morocco in November 2023 for a World Cup qualifier, chose to represent Morocco over France, honoring his roots.
As Diop continues to shine, he remains focused on club goals while leaving his national team future in the coach’s hands. “I’ll keep giving my best for Nice,” he said.
