Morice Chukwu: Nigerian-Tanzanian midfielder linked with Young Africans move from Singida SC
Morice Chukwu, the Nigerian-Tanzanian defensive midfielder currently with Singida SC, has been linked with a move to Tanzanian giants Young Africans. The 23-year-old is understood to be on Yanga’s radar as they explore options to strengthen the base of their midfield ahead of the new campaign.
Chukwu only returned to Singida at the end of June after a loan spell with Tabora United last season, but his performances across Tanzanian and Nigerian football have attracted interest within the domestic league. Young Africans are monitoring his situation as they weigh up whether to open formal talks over a possible deal.
The Ebonyi-born midfielder has built a reputation in West and East Africa through consistent game time at senior level. He has made 147 league appearances in the Nigerian top flight, adding experience in continental competition with outings in both the CAF Confederation Cup and CAF Champions League. He was part of title-winning sides at Rivers United and Akwa United, lifting the Nigerian championship in consecutive seasons in 2020-21 and 2021-22.
Chukwu arrived in Tanzanian football in 2023 after leaving Rivers United, moving first to Fountain Gate before a switch to Ihefu S.C., and then joining Singida at the start of 2024. His contract length at Singida has not been disclosed, and there is no indication yet whether any potential transfer to Young Africans would involve a fee or an initial loan, with the player currently tied to the Singida Black Stars outfit.
