Out of contract with Olympique Lyonnais, Malagasy defender Jérémy Morel has attracted interest from newly promoted Ligue 1 side Stade Brestois. Seeking experienced reinforcements for the upcoming season, Brest has identified the former Olympique de Marseille defender as a key target in their recruitment drive.
Morel’s playing time at Lyon has diminished in recent years, with the 35-year-old featuring in just 14 matches across all competitions this season. Several French clubs have reportedly monitored his situation, but Brest’s project, according to L’Équipe, appears to have particularly appealed to the Lorient-born defender.
In addition to his club career, Morel is a crucial figure for Madagascar’s national team, the Barea, and is currently participating in the country’s first-ever Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, further highlighting his ongoing value and experience at the international level.
