Congolese Moonga Simba features as Hermannstadt held by Csikszereda
Congolese forward Moonga Simba came on as a second-half substitute as Hermannstadt were held to a goalless draw by Csikszereda in Romania’s relegation group.
The result, recorded on matchday six of the phase, offered little in terms of attacking action, with neither side able to break the deadlock over the course of the match.
For Hermannstadt, the outcome represented a missed opportunity, particularly as they were playing on home soil.
Simba was introduced after the interval as the hosts sought to inject energy into their attacking play. However, despite the change, Hermannstadt struggled to create clear chances, and the match ended without a goal.
The lack of cutting edge in front of goal proved costly for a team looking to strengthen its position in a tightly contested relegation group.
With points at a premium, failing to capitalise on home advantage adds further pressure ahead of the remaining fixtures.
Hermannstadt currently sit eighth in the standings with 20 points, leaving them in a precarious position as they aim to secure their place in the division. The situation remains delicate, with the threat of relegation still present.
The goalless draw highlights the importance of consistency in the closing stages of the campaign. Any further dropped points could complicate their efforts to avoid the drop, particularly given the competitive nature of the group.
Attention now turns to their next fixture against Unirea Slobozia on Monday, May 4, a match that could prove decisive in shaping their season.
Hermannstadt will be aware that improved efficiency in front of goal will be essential if they are to convert performances into results.
With several games still to play, their fate remains in their own hands, but the margin for error is narrowing as the season approaches its conclusion.
