Montpellier held Paris Saint-Germain to a 1-1 draw in the opening match of the French Ligue 1. Remy Cabella scored for Heraultais in the 10th minute against the flow of the game. The Parisians leveled the score with Maxwell, who capitalized on a pass from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The tables could have turned in favor of the Ile-de-France club if it weren’t for the remarkable reflexes of Ivorian goalkeeper Siaka Tiéné. He made a crucial save to deny Edinson Cavani’s goal, who came in as a substitute during the game.
Cavani came close to scoring on his first touch, heading the ball towards the far post from a cross by Pastore. However, Tiéné, who joined Montpellier from PSG this summer, managed to deflect the shot narrowly with the tip of his foot in the 74th minute.
