Montpellier Hérault Sport Club (MHSC), the current French Ligue 1 champion, is facing a challenging season, and there are reports of tension between President Louis Nicollin and coach René Girard. Girard, who has been at the helm for three and a half years, is reportedly unhappy about the departure of Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa to Newcastle. There are speculations that Girard might leave his coaching position sooner than anticipated. Before his time at Montpellier, Girard coached the French junior team from 2004 to 2008.
