Monsuru Opeyemi: Nigerian midfielder joins Frydek-Mistek from Hlucin
Nigerian attacking midfielder Monsuru Opeyemi has joined Czech side Frydek-Mistek from league rivals Hlucin. The 22-year-old, who plays predominantly as a central attacking midfielder, makes the move into MSFL competition as he continues his career in the Czech Republic.
Opeyemi arrives at Frydek-Mistek after a short spell with Hlucin, which he joined earlier in 2026 following a free transfer from MLS Next Pro side Cincinnati 2. His switch strengthens Frydek-Mistek’s options between midfield and attack, with the right-footed player bringing experience from several different leagues despite his age.
The Lagos-born midfielder has already built a varied CV across Europe and North America. After starting out at B-Angel FC, he moved to Portugal with Vizela’s youth ranks in 2021, progressing from the under-19s to the under-23 side. A loan to SC Covilha in 2023 gave him a first taste of senior football in Liga Portugal before he returned to Vizela’s under-23 team.
Opeyemi later crossed the Atlantic to join Cincinnati 2 in MLS Next Pro in early 2025, featuring in the league and the US Open Cup before opting for a move to Central Europe with Hlucin the following year. His competitive record includes regular appearances across development and third-tier competitions, contributing goals and assists in Portugal, the United States and the Czech Republic.
Standing at 1.78m, Opeyemi links up with his new club immediately following the completion of his move on 23 July 2026, adding depth to Frydek-Mistek’s attacking midfield department for the forthcoming MSFL campaign.
