Monaco turn down €50m Crystal Palace bid for Senegal midfielder Lamine Camara

Monaco have rejected a reported €50 million offer from Crystal Palace for midfielder Lamine Camara as Premier League interest in the Senegal international intensifies.

According to French outlets Nice-Matin and Foot Mercato, Palace have made a significant approach for the 22-year-old, but Monaco have refused to sanction his departure at the current valuation.

The Ligue 1 club are reportedly demanding €60 million before considering the sale of one of their most prized assets, leaving Palace facing a €10 million gap if they are to secure his signature.

Camara remains under contract with Monaco until 2029, giving the French side a strong negotiating position and little reason to accept an offer below their asking price.

Felipe Luis wants Camara to stay

Monaco manager Felipe Luis is also keen to keep the midfielder and believes he has an important role to play in his plans for the new season.

Speaking after Monaco’s 3-2 pre-season victory over Liverpool, the former Chelsea and Brazil left-back made clear his desire to retain Camara.

“Yes, of course I have hope. I have every hope that he stays. I think he is happy at Monaco.”

Luis also stressed Camara’s importance to his tactical plans if he remains at the club.

“If he stays, he can work even harder. Because he will play, as I said, a key role in my system.”

The manager’s comments underline Monaco’s reluctance to lose the midfielder, particularly with the new campaign approaching.

Premier League giants also watching

Crystal Palace are not the only English club monitoring Camara’s situation.

Liverpool and Manchester United have also been linked with the Senegalese midfielder, potentially creating a three-way Premier League battle for his signature if Monaco eventually decide to sell.

Camara joined Monaco from French side Metz in 2024 and quickly established himself as an important figure in the club’s midfield.

His performances have also strengthened his reputation on the international stage with Senegal, making him one of the continent’s most sought-after young midfielders.

With Monaco holding firm at €60 million and Camara tied down for another three years, Palace may have to significantly improve their proposal to convince the French club to reconsider.

For now, Monaco’s position is clear: they will only contemplate losing Camara if their substantial valuation is met.
