Monaco terminate Paul Pogba contract after latest injury setback

France international of Guinean descent Paul Pogba has suffered another major setback in his bid to revive his career, with Monaco set to terminate his contract.

As per reports, the Principality club have opted to end their relationship with the 33-year-old, whose contract with the club was originally set to run until the summer of 2027.

The decision means both parties will now have to reach an agreement over the financial terms of the early termination.

Monaco’s decision to end Pogba’s contract had already been taken before his latest injury, adding another painful chapter to what has been a difficult period for the former Manchester United and Juventus star.

Pogba’s situation became even more concerning during Monaco’s training session on the morning of August 11.

The 2018 World Cup winner reportedly felt a sharp pain in his left thigh while taking part in a training drill. He cried out before collapsing on the pitch and was unable to continue the session.

The setback comes just days after Pogba had returned to full training with the team following another period on the sidelines.

His preparations for the new season had already been severely disrupted, with the midfielder managing just 45 minutes of football throughout the entire preseason.
