AS Monaco have reportedly identified Mali international Lassine Sinayoko as a potential replacement for Folarin Balogun ahead of the new campaign.

Sinayoko has emerged as one of the most sought-after forwards in Ligue 1 following an impressive campaign with Auxerre, with his performances attracting interest from several clubs across Europe.

According to reports, Monaco are closely monitoring the 25-year-old as they prepare for the possibility of Balogun’s departure. The Principality club are said to view the Malian forward as an ideal candidate to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season.

Balogun’s future has been the subject of growing speculation in recent weeks, prompting Monaco to explore alternative options should the United States international complete a move away from the Stade Louis II.

Sinayoko has enjoyed a breakthrough 2025–26 Ligue 1 season with Auxerre, establishing himself as one of the club’s standout performers. The powerful striker scored 12 league goals and registered four assists, playing a crucial role in Auxerre’s campaign with his consistency and attacking influence.

His ability to operate across the front line, combine physical strength with pace, and contribute both as a goalscorer and creator has made him an attractive prospect for clubs seeking to reinforce their attacking departments.

The Malian international remains under contract with Auxerre until 2027, meaning Monaco would need to negotiate a transfer fee should they decide to formalise their interest. However, his impressive form has significantly boosted his market value and strengthened Auxerre’s position in any potential negotiations.

Monaco are expected to monitor developments surrounding Balogun’s future before making a decisive move, with Sinayoko reportedly high on their shortlist of attacking targets.

For the Malian forward, a move to Monaco would represent a significant step in his career, offering the opportunity to compete for European qualification and establish himself at one of France’s most ambitious clubs.

As the transfer window progresses, Sinayoko’s future is likely to remain a major talking point, with Monaco poised to intensify their pursuit if Balogun completes an exit. After an outstanding season in Ligue 1, the Auxerre striker appears ready for the next challenge, and the Principality club could provide the ideal platform for the next chapter of his career.
