French Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco are expected to capture the services of Ivory Coast international Simon Adingra before the closure of the winter transfer window.

Adingra is joining Monaco on loan from Premier League outfit Sunderland, with the Ivorian star set to undergo his mandatory medical in London before putting pen to paper.

Both clubs have reached an agreement that will see Adingra join the Ligue 1 side until the end of the season, with the deal reported to include a loan fee in excess of £1 million. The move also include a purchase option set at €17 million.

Adingra, who joined Sunderland from Brighton last summer has struggled for regular minutes this campaign, making just nine Premier League appearances under head coach Régis Le Bris.

The lack of consistent playing time has prompted the 24-year-old to seek a temporary move away in order to get his season back on track.

The talented winger will bolster Monaco’s struggling attack in Ligue 1. The 24-year-old Ivorian forward is set for his first experience in Ligue 1 and potentially the UEFA Champions League as well.

It is important to note that his limited game time at Sunderland cost him a place in the Ivory Coast squad for the recently concluded AFCON tournament, where the Elephant bowed out at quarterfinals.
