Monaco monitor Senegal teenager Ibrahima Cissé in potential Jong KAA Gent swoop

Senegal centre-forward Ibrahima Cissé of Jong KAA Gent is being linked with a move to Ligue 1 side Monaco as the 18-year-old’s future in Belgium remains unresolved.

The 1.96m striker, who plays for Gent’s U21 side in the Belgian Challenger Pro League, is currently valued at €900,000, according to Transfermarkt, with the rumoured deal still at an uncertain stage and the probability of a move listed only as “?”. With no public information on when his contract in Belgium is due to expire, speculation has also raised the prospect that he could become a free agent in the near future, increasing interest from clubs prepared to move early.

Cissé, born on 24 September 2007, has been emerging with Jong KAA Gent, operating primarily as a centre-forward and wearing the number 75 shirt. His profile – a tall, central attacker with Senegalese nationality – fits Monaco’s recent strategy of targeting young, high-upside talents from neighbouring leagues at relatively modest market values.

Recent match data from this season in the Challenger Pro League shows Cissé continuing his development for Gent’s second team, featuring as a central striker against domestic opposition as he adapts to senior football. His performances at that level have helped sustain his €900k valuation and drawn attention beyond Belgium.

There is no indication yet of an agreed fee or personal terms, and neither club has confirmed whether the discussions are advanced. The lack of a published contract expiry date at Jong KAA Gent only fuels talk that Monaco could try to secure him on favourable terms, or even be positioned should he approach free-agent status.

If a transfer does materialise, a step from Belgium’s second tier to Monaco and Ligue 1 would represent a significant acceleration in Cissé’s career and could prove a defining move in shaping his reputation as one of Senegal’s next attacking prospects.
