Monaco hand first professional contracts to Moroccan duo and Tunisia-France talent

AS Monaco have awarded first professional contracts to Morocco youth internationals Safouane Benzahra and Nahel Haddani, along with Tunisia-France youngster Najd Ajroud and Melvin Gomes Da Veiga.

The French club announced on Tuesday that all four academy players had signed deals running until 30 June 2029, after attracting attention with their performances in recent weeks.

The contracts represent a reward for the quartet, all members of Monaco’s 2008 generation. Together, they helped the club’s Under-19 side reach the semi-finals of the French league last season.

Benzahra has already made his first official appearance for Monaco, featuring in a Ligue 1 match against Paris Saint-Germain. Ajroud, Haddani and Gomes Da Veiga are continuing their progress towards the first team.

The four players were also included in Filipe Luis’ squad during pre-season, a step which highlighted their potential to move into senior football.

Foot Mercato said: “We confirmed last week in our pages that the four talents were ready to move up to another level after joining Filipe Luis’ squad during pre-season.”

Monaco’s announcement confirmed the long-term commitment to the academy graduates, who have now taken the next step in their development with the first professional contracts of their careers.
