Monaco eye Tottenham’s Senegal midfielder Pape Matar Sarr

Senegal midfielder Pape Matar Sarr is the subject of a rumoured move to Monaco from Tottenham, with the Ligue 1 club linked with the 23-year-old ahead of the transfer deadline.

Sarr is valued at €30m and remains under contract with Tottenham until June 2030. No transfer fee or agreement has been reported, and the proposed move has not been confirmed by either club.

The central midfielder has yet to make an appearance for Tottenham in the Premier League or EFL Cup this season. He did feature twice for Senegal at the 2026 World Cup, playing 17% of the available minutes without scoring or assisting.

Tottenham signed Sarr from French club Metz for €16.9m in August 2021 and initially loaned him back to the Ligue 1 side. He returned to north London at the end of that season and has since been part of the squad that won the Europa League in 2024-25.

A move to Monaco would represent a return to France for Sarr, who began his senior career at Metz after coming through Senegalese club Generation Foot. He also helped Senegal win the Africa Cup of Nations in 2022.

For now, Sarr remains a Tottenham player, with his long-term contract running until the end of June 2030.
