His loved ones gathered at his bedside throughout the day, but fortunately, the situation was not as serious as initially feared. Abidal himself reassured his fans on Twitter, stating that he would be leaving the hospital the following day and returning to training with Monaco.
Eric Abidal’s journey back to football after his liver transplant in 2012 has been remarkable. He made a return to competition with Barcelona before joining Monaco at the beginning of the season. He also made a comeback to the French national team last summer, although he was not selected for the upcoming friendly match against the Netherlands.
