Aadil Assana Aims to Impress at AS Monaco Under New Coach Leonardo Jardim
By BBC Sport
Aadil Assana, the 21-year-old defensive midfielder, has returned to AS Monaco on loan from CA Bastia with a clear mission: to prove he deserves a place in Leonardo Jardim’s squad this season.
Having experienced mixed success during previous loan spells at Lausanne and Clermont, Assana’s most recent time at Bastia in Corsica offered valuable playing time but fell short of solidifying his standing. The young midfielder was initially brought through the ranks by former Monaco coach Marco Simone when the club competed in Ligue 2.
Reflecting on his career so far, Assana revealed, “I had contacts with Rennes, but it didn’t happen. I haven’t had my chance with my training club yet, but I’m going to try to prove myself in order to establish myself.”
With his contract set to expire in six months, Assana plans to reassess his situation in January, determined to earn more opportunities and make an impact under Jardim’s leadership.
The midfielder’s determination and development will be closely watched as Monaco look to build a competitive squad in Ligue 1 and European competitions this season.
