Momodou Sarr: Right winger linked with move to Finland’s FC Lahti

Momodou Sarr has completed a move from Danish side Kolding IF to Veikkausliiga club FC Lahti, returning to Finland in a permanent deal following the end of his loan spell at FC Inter Turku. The transfer is registered as a standard move, with the winger’s contract at Lahti commencing on 2026-02-11. Details of the fee have not been disclosed, while his current market value is listed at €150k. No end date for his new contract has been made public, leaving open the possibility that he could become a free agent when that agreement eventually expires.

The switch brings to a close Sarr’s spell in Denmark, where he was on the books of Kolding IF in the country’s 1. Division. During his time there, he also spent a loan period at FC Inter Turku, returning to Kolding at the end of that loan before Lahti stepped in to secure him on a full transfer. His rights previously shifted between Finland and Denmark over the past years, but this is the first time FC Lahti have acquired him.

Born in Vaasa and holding both Finland and The Gambia nationality, the 1.88 m right-footed attacker has been used primarily as a right winger throughout his career. His market value trajectory shows a sharp rise in recent seasons: after early valuations of around €25k at Vaasan Palloseura, it climbed steadily, peaking at €300k while at Kolding IF before settling at €150k by late 2025 with FC Inter Turku.

Sarr’s career path has been almost entirely Nordic. After progressing from Vaasan Palloseura U19 into the VPS first team, he earned a move to Ilves Tampere, staying there before joining IF Gnistan. Consistent performances in Finland’s leagues led to his first step abroad with Kolding IF, and from there he was loaned back to the Veikkausliiga with FC Inter Turku. That loan ended with his formal return to the Danish club, but FC Lahti have now stepped in to bring him back to Finland on a permanent basis.

The move returns Sarr to a league he knows well. He has already been valued multiple times as a Veikkausliiga-level player during spells at Ilves, Gnistan and Inter Turku, suggesting FC Lahti are signing someone with established experience in Finland’s top flight rather than a raw gamble from abroad. For Kolding, the transfer closes a chapter in which his value briefly hit a career high; for Lahti, it represents an opportunity to buy at a lower market estimation while the player is still just 25.

For Sarr himself, this confirmed transfer offers a chance to re‑anchor his career in familiar surroundings while still maintaining the profile of a player with international experience. With no public information yet on the contract’s expiry, his future flexibility remains intact: strong performances for Lahti could either earn him an improved deal in Finland or reopen the door to another move abroad when his current agreement comes to an end.
