Togo’s Arafat Djako Scores First Goal for FC Dacia in Moldova
Togolese forward Arafat Djako opened his goal account for FC Dacia this weekend, marking a personal milestone since joining the Moldovan club during the winter transfer window. The 24-year-old striker is beginning to find his feet in Eastern Europe, making a positive impact despite his team’s defeat.
On Saturday, FC Dacia faced FC Costuleni in the 28th round of the Moldovan National Division. The match proved challenging for the “Wolves”, who fell behind 2-0 by half-time. Despite a spirited second-half response, they were unable to overturn the deficit, ultimately falling 2-1.
Djako, who entered the match as a substitute, struck in the 87th minute to pull one back for the visitors. His goal came from a well-executed move: following a right-wing cross and a headed assist from a teammate, Djako showed sharp control before rifling the ball under the crossbar — a clinical finish that offered a glimpse of his attacking prowess.
Though the goal wasn’t enough to change the outcome, it was a key personal moment for the former ASKO Kara player, who has been gradually integrating into the squad. Djako’s adaptation period appears to be paying off, and his late goal could earn him greater consideration in upcoming matches.
Fellow Togolese international Mamah Abdoul Gafar also featured in the game, playing the full 90 minutes in defence.
FC Dacia currently sits fourth in the Moldovan league standings, continuing to push for a European qualification spot as the season approaches its final stretch.
Djako’s performance may signal the start of a more influential role in the club’s campaign — a welcome development for both FC Dacia and Togo’s national team selectors keeping an eye on their overseas talent.
