Mokhtar Ifaoui: Tunisia goalkeeper joins US Ben Guerdane on loan from Esperance
Tunisia goalkeeper Mokhtar Ifaoui has joined US Ben Guerdane from Esperance on a season-long loan, completing a move that keeps the 23-year-old in the country’s Ligue 1.
Ifaoui, who was born on 2 March 2003, moves to Ben Guerdane after spending the previous part of his senior career with Esperance. The goalkeeper joined Esperance’s senior team from Esperance Tunis Under-21s on 1 January 2025.
His switch to US Ben Guerdane was completed on 19 August 2026, with the loan scheduled to run until 30 June 2027. At the end of the arrangement, he is due to return to Esperance.
The move sees Ifaoui remain within Ligue 1, as both Esperance and US Ben Guerdane compete in Tunisia’s top flight. It also represents a change of club for a player whose recent career has been tied to Esperance’s senior and youth structures.
Standing at 1.92 metres, Ifaoui is a right-footed goalkeeper. His arrival gives US Ben Guerdane a player with experience of being part of the Esperance setup, while the temporary nature of the deal keeps his registration connected to the Tunis club beyond the current campaign.
Ifaoui’s honours include the Tunisian Champion title won with Esperance during the 2024-25 season. That achievement came after his move up from the club’s Under-21 side and before his loan switch to Ben Guerdane.
The goalkeeper is the latest player to move between the two Ligue 1 clubs, with his immediate future now taking him to US Ben Guerdane for the 2026-27 season. His return to Esperance is already scheduled when the loan period expires.
Ifaoui’s loan transfer to US Ben Guerdane was completed on 19 August 2026 and runs until 30 June 2027.
