Mohammed VI U19 Tournament Kicks Off

The eighth edition of the Mohammed VI International U19 Tournament has officially begun in Salé, drawing top youth teams from across the globe and reinforcing its growing reputation as a premier platform for emerging football talent.

Hosted at the Mohammed VI Football Academy, this year’s competition features a record 16 teams split into four groups, highlighting the tournament’s rapid expansion and increasing global appeal.

Clubs from four continents are in attendance, including Stade Rennais FC, AS Monaco, Villarreal CF, Boca Juniors, SE Palmeiras, Al Ain FC, and Aspire Academy.

Moroccan representation comes from Fath Union Sport, RS Berkane, and the host academy itself, all aiming to make a strong impression on home soil in this expanded format.

The tournament got underway in emphatic fashion, as the Mohammed VI Academy delivered a commanding 3-0 victory over Como 1907, setting an early benchmark for the competition.

With scouts and recruitment officials from leading clubs around the world in attendance, the tournament continues to serve as a vital gateway for young players aspiring to break into professional football.

Since its inception in 2017, the competition has evolved significantly, adopting a U19 format in 2019 and steadily attracting elite teams from across the footballing world.

It has since established itself as a key stage for youth development, with several former participants progressing to professional careers, particularly in Europe.

Running from April 22 to 26, the tournament will conclude with the crowning of a new champion, capping off what has become one of the most respected youth football events on the international calendar.
