Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Glenn Hoddle has tipped Mohammed Kudus to become a key figure for Spurs if he improves his decision-making while dribbling.
Speaking on TNT Sports during coverage of the 2025 UEFA Super Cup in Italy, Hoddle praised the Ghanaian forward’s technical qualities but stressed the need for greater awareness on the ball.
Spurs had surrendered a 2-0 advantage to Paris Saint-Germain, eventually losing in a penalty shootout after conceding in the 85th and 94th minutes.
Kudus, who started the match, was a constant menace to the PSG defence until being replaced in the 79th minute. He created a game-high three chances and completed two successful dribbles, further underlining his attacking threat.
“He’s got such good talent, such quick feet, and you can see his qualities there. The added ingredient for him as a player is consistency,” Hoddle remarked.
“A lot of my West Ham fans, and I have quite a lot, have said to me, ‘Thank you for taking him, Glenn.’ So I don’t know about that. The first year, I thought he was excellent. The second year, they’re telling me he didn’t do so well. But he looks like he’s got a lot of potential, I’ve got to say.
“Sometimes, I look at dribblers and I like what they do, but can they dribble and play with their head up? That is the key for me. Can he also play with his head up? That’s the next progression for him. And I think if he does, he could be a real asset for Tottenham.”
Kudus, 25, completed a €63.8 million move from West Ham to Tottenham this summer after two seasons at the London Stadium. His arrival was part of Spurs’ push to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
