Ghanaian football star Mohammed Kudus has issued a heartfelt apology to fans following the Black Stars’ recent loss to Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. The defeat has left Ghana winless in Group F, with only two points from four matches, placing their hopes of qualification in jeopardy.

Speaking through his social media accounts, Kudus, who currently plays for Premier League side West Ham United, expressed the frustration and disappointment felt by both the team and the supporters.

His message aimed to acknowledge the team’s shortcomings while also rallying support during this challenging period.

“On behalf of the entire team, I would like to extend our sincerest apologies to the people of Ghana for our recent performances against Sudan in Accra and Libya,” Kudus wrote.

His words echoed the sentiments of a nation disappointed by the recent lackluster results.

Despite their best efforts on the pitch, the Black Stars have been unable to secure a victory, leaving fans and players alike disheartened. Kudus emphasized that the results did not align with the team’s goals or the pride they take in representing Ghana.

“Despite our utmost effort and dedication, the results did not reflect our aspirations or the pride we have in representing our beloved nation. We understand the disappointment and frustration this has caused, and we share those feelings.”

The Black Stars have faced mounting pressure as their qualification campaign falters.

The team’s performances against both Sudan and Libya have sparked concerns over their chances of securing a place in the 2025 AFCON, a tournament where Ghanaian football traditionally commands respect.

With only two matches remaining in the group stage, the pressure is on for the Black Stars to turn their fortunes around.

Kudus, however, remained optimistic about the future, calling on the fans to continue supporting the team.

“We urge all fans to stand by us during this challenging period. Your encouragement and faith in us will fuel our determination to succeed. We will not give up.”

In closing, he assured supporters that the team is committed to redeeming itself in the upcoming matches, aiming to restore national pride and deliver the results expected by the passionate football fans of Ghana.

“We look forward to redeeming ourselves in the upcoming matches,” he concluded, signaling the team’s resolve to fight on despite the setbacks.

With the stakes high and the team’s qualification hopes hanging in the balance, the next few fixtures will be crucial for the Black Stars.

As they seek redemption, the backing of their supporters will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in their pursuit of a place in the 2025 AFCON tournament.
