Mohammad Sarr: Gambian defender joins Pohronie on free transfer from Podbrezova
Gambian centre-back Mohammad Sarr has joined Slovak club Pohronie on a free transfer from top-flight side Podbrezova.
The 19-year-old left-sided defender moves into the II. Liga after Pohronie secured his signature ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. The deal, completed on 15 July 2026, sees Sarr switch clubs without a transfer fee following his departure from Podbrezova.
Sarr, who is listed primarily as a centre-back and favours his left foot, will add defensive depth to a Pohronie side competing in Slovakia’s second tier. His arrival also comes with the potential for game time across league and cup competitions, with Pohronie involved in both the Nike Liga structure and the Slovnaft Cup.
The move continues a rapid rise through Slovak football for Sarr. Earlier in 2026 he made the step into the country’s top division when he joined Podbrezova from TMT FC, also on a free. Within a few months he has now made the switch to Pohronie as he looks to establish himself in senior European football.
While detailed senior statistics from his previous clubs are not disclosed, Sarr’s inclusion across league and cup squads underlines his exposure to both domestic league action and national cup competition. His versatility as a central defender strengthens Pohronie’s options across multiple campaigns.
Sarr’s transfer to Pohronie is registered as a completed free move, confirming the Gambian defender as part of the II. Liga club’s squad for the new season.
