Mohamed Soueid: Mauritania forward joins Naft Al-Wassat
Mauritania centre-forward Mohamed Soueid has joined Iraqi club Naft Al-Wassat, completing a move from FC Nouadhibou.
The 34-year-old switches clubs after a spell with Nouadhibou, whom he joined in January 2026 following a period without a club. Soueid’s arrival at Naft Al-Wassat gives the Iraqi side a forward who can play with either foot and adds another chapter to a career that has included clubs in Mauritania and Iraq.
Soueid was part of the Nouadhibou team that won the Mauritanian championship during the 2025-26 season. His time at the club followed a spell with Al-Kahrbaa Club, where he played after leaving Al-Hedod SC. He had previously represented Al-Talaba SC and Tevragh Zeina, while also returning to Nouadhibou earlier in his career.
The forward’s record includes 36 appearances and four goals in the Iraq Stars League, as well as four appearances in the CAF Champions League. He has also featured in the CAF Confederation Cup and the Iraq FA Cup during his career.
Soueid first moved to Iraq in 2022, joining Al-Hedod from Nouadhibou on a free transfer. He then moved to Al-Talaba two years later, also on a free transfer, before switching to Al-Kahrbaa in January 2025. His subsequent return to Nouadhibou came after leaving Al-Kahrbaa in September 2025.
His latest move takes him back into Iraqi football after his championship-winning season in Mauritania. Naft Al-Wassat become the latest club in a career spanning more than a decade and featuring moves between the two countries.
Soueid’s transfer to Naft Al-Wassat was completed on 19 August 2026.
