Mohamed Sherif: Al Ahly and Egypt striker linked with Kruger United move in South Africa
Egyptian forward Mohamed Sherif of Al Ahly is being linked with a move to South African side Kruger United in the Betway Premiership, with the 30-year-old reportedly under consideration despite being under contract in Cairo until 2030. The centre-forward, who wears the No 10 shirt for the Egyptian champions, is viewed as a potential attacking reinforcement for the Johannesburg-based club as they look to add proven experience at the top end of the pitch.
Sherif rejoined Al Ahly in July 2025 after a free transfer from Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Khaleej, returning to a club where he has spent the bulk of his senior career. He previously left Al Ahly for Al-Khaleej in August 2023 in a deal worth 1.37m, having first arrived at the Cairo giants from Wadi Degla in 2018 and later completing a loan spell at Enppi.
Across his time in the Egyptian Premier League he has made 191 appearances, scoring 60 goals and providing 21 assists, while also featuring regularly for Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League, where he has 15 goals in 44 matches. His current market valuation stands at around 500,000, a figure that would make him a relatively affordable target for Kruger United compared with his peak valuation of 2.5m.
With four years still remaining on his Al Ahly deal, any move would require agreement between the clubs, and there has been no indication yet that the Cairo side are under pressure to sell their versatile, both-footed centre-forward.
