Mohamed Shehata battles injury ahead of Zamalek’s showdown with Al Ahly
Zamalek midfielder Mohamed Shehata is holding on to hope of being fit in time for the much-anticipated clash against Al Ahly.
The midfielder, known for his composure in midfield, has been sidelined by a hamstring problem that kept him out of the Whites’ 2-0 victory over Ismaily.
A responsible source within Zamalek revealed that Shehata will not feature in the upcoming match against El Gouna on Tuesday in the eighth round of the Egyptian Premier League.
“Shehata is still suffering from a hamstring injury and is currently undergoing treatment and rehabilitation,” a source told Kooora
“The medical staff is working on intensifying Shehata’s treatment program to make him available for the Al Ahly match, but it will be difficult for him to be available against El Gouna.
“Mohamed Shehata will undergo further medical tests on Saturday and will gradually begin participating in group training if his condition improves.”
Zamalek, led by Belgian coach Yannick Ferreira, remain league leaders with 16 points, holding a two-point cushion over second-placed Al Masry.
