Mohamed Shawky begins new chapter leading Zed FC’s technical vision
Mohamed Shawky is officially stepping into a new challenge as the head of Zed FC’s technical staff, marking his first full stint as technical director.
The Egyptian Premier League club confirmed his appointment for the new season, unveiling him with a nostalgic video tribute of his stunning goal against Brazil in the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup.
The 43-year-old former Egypt international enjoyed a rich playing career with Al Ahly, Al Masry, El Mokawloon, and abroad with Middlesbrough, Kayserispor, and Kelantan before retiring in 2015.
Following retirement, Shawky transitioned into coaching, beginning in 2016 as assistant to technical director Ahmed Hossam “Mido” at Wadi Degla. He later joined the Egypt U-23 setup under Shawky Gharib and contributed to the senior national team staff under Carlos Queiroz and the late Ihab Galal.
He gained more experience at Al Ahly, serving in several youth and senior roles, including deputy sports director and first-team general coach.
Now leading ZED FC’s technical team, Shawky will work closely with Adel Mustafa as general coach and Mostafa Kamal as goalkeeper coach, aiming to shape a bold footballing future.
