Mohamed Salah’s Trabzonspor chapter begins with Thursday night welcome

Mohamed Salah will be officially presented as a Trabzonspor player at Papara Park on Thursday evening, just hours after arriving in Turkey and completing his move to the Turkish club.

The ceremony will begin at 19:30 local time, Trabzonspor confirmed, with supporters invited to attend wearing the club’s new-season shirts. The club described the event as an opportunity to “make history and take the first step on an unforgettable journey” alongside Egypt captain Salah.

The announcement followed Salah’s medical examination at Acibadem Maslak Hospital, Trabzonspor’s medical partner. The tests were part of the final arrangements for the transfer, which the club formally confirmed on Wednesday.

Salah has joined Trabzonspor as a free agent after his contract with Liverpool expired, bringing an end to his nine-year spell with the English club.

Several Turkish media reports say the 33-year-old has agreed a two-year contract with Trabzonspor worth an annual salary of 17m euros, with additional bonuses and benefits included in the deal. Those financial details have been reported by multiple outlets in Turkey.

Trabzonspor had earlier asked supporters not to use private cars when travelling to Trabzon Airport to welcome their new signing, warning that doing so could create severe congestion.

The club also urged fans to avoid setting off large numbers of flares during the reception. That appeal was made in the interests of public safety and to prevent disruption to air traffic at the airport.

Salah’s arrival marks the beginning of a new stage in a career that reached historic heights during his time at Liverpool. Across nine seasons at Anfield, he won a series of domestic, continental and global honours, while also setting a succession of individual records.

His achievements established him as one of the most significant players in Liverpool’s history and one of the leading figures of the Premier League era.

The presentation at Papara Park will give Trabzonspor supporters their first opportunity to welcome Salah in the club’s colours. The venue is expected to host the event on Thursday evening as the Turkish side begin their association with the Egypt international.
