The uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool continues, despite his return to form under new manager Arne Slot. While the Egyptian star remains integral to the Reds, speculation over a potential move to Saudi Arabia refuses to fade.
Klopp Tensions Nearly Led to Exit
Former Al-Ittihad manager Slaven Bilic has claimed that Salah was close to leaving Liverpool last summer due to tensions with then-manager Jürgen Klopp.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Bilic revealed that Saudi clubs, particularly Al-Ittihad, were monitoring the situation closely, hoping to lure the forward to the Saudi Pro League.
“I know he wasn’t happy with Klopp, and there was a feeling he could leave. All the Saudi clubs were ready to make him their main attraction,” said Bilic.
Despite the interest, Salah opted to remain at Anfield, but Bilic’s revelations suggest that his relationship with Klopp was strained enough to make an exit a serious possibility.
A New Chapter Under Arne Slot
Salah’s performances have improved significantly since Slot’s arrival, with the Dutch coach keen to build his team around the Egyptian forward.
Slot has made it clear that he wants Salah to remain at Liverpool beyond his current deal.
“Everyone wants him to stay, and so do we. Of course, we want him to extend his contract, but he has the experience and wisdom to make the best decision for his career,” Slot stated.
This renewed confidence has seen Salah regain his best form, reinforcing his status as a crucial figure in Liverpool’s attack.
Uncertain Future Amid Saudi Interest
While Salah’s commitment to Liverpool remains evident, speculation over his long-term future persists. His agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, has publicly denied any immediate plans for a departure, but with Saudi clubs continuing to express interest, the situation remains fluid.
As Liverpool look to secure their talisman on a new contract, the coming months could be decisive. Whether Salah chooses to extend his stay at Anfield or considers a lucrative move abroad remains to be seen.
