Mohamed Salah will be heading to UAE – Former assistant coach Roger De Sa
Former Egypt assistant coach Roger De Sa has sparked discussion with bold claims about the future of Mohamed Salah, suggesting the Liverpool star could be heading toward a lucrative late-career move away from Europe.
In comments that underline both footballing pragmatism and personal considerations, De Sa argued that Salah’s next destination may be driven as much by lifestyle as by competition.
He pointed to the United Arab Emirates as a likely landing spot, noting that proximity to Egypt and a less demanding schedule could appeal to the forward as he looks to balance family life with the closing chapters of his career.
“He is probably going to the UAE – that is where he is likely to go and play for two or three years. His plan, considering his lifestyle and family, is to remain as close to Egypt as possible and to secure a lucrative pension.”
The former coach drew parallels with Cristiano Ronaldo, who made a high-profile move to Saudi Arabia with Al Nassr, highlighting a growing trend among elite players shifting to leagues outside Europe in their later years.
“He will likely follow a path similar to Cristiano Ronaldo, spending three seasons in a less taxing league, where the schedule involves playing once a week, where taxes are minimal, and where he can potentially earn more than in the Premier League,” De Sa added.
De Sa went further to speculate on a possible return closer to Africa, suggesting that clubs like Mamelodi Sundowns could, in theory, compete for Salah’s signature with a substantial offer.
While acknowledging the scale of such a move, he hinted at the financial power now present in parts of the African game.
“Salah might seek a contract worth approximately $591,350 USD per month, tax-free, from Sundowns.
“He would be earning beyond Patrice Motsepe’s league.”
For now, Salah remains a central figure at Liverpool and a key presence in the Premier League. But De Sa’s remarks reflect a broader reality in modern football: even the game’s biggest stars are increasingly weighing legacy, lifestyle, and financial security as they approach the twilight of their careers.
