Mohamed Salah unveiled by Trabzonspor after huge welcome in Turkey

Mohamed Salah says he has never experienced a reception like the one that greeted him after completing his move to Trabzonspor, with the Egypt forward describing himself as excited to begin his “adventure” with the Turkish club.

Salah signed a two-year contract with Trabzonspor on Thursday morning after completing his medical examination the previous day.

The former Liverpool player was presented to supporters at an event following his arrival in Trabzon. Thousands of fans had gathered to welcome him, with Salah later saying about 25,000 people were at the airport.

Speaking at his presentation, Salah said: “I have never experienced anything like this in my life before. I thank everyone who welcomed me in this way.”

He added: “I am here to win, and I will give everything I have to achieve victories with this club. Thank you for this affection. I am very excited to begin this adventure.”

Salah also expressed his gratitude for the welcome he had received during the previous two days.

“I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to you for this wonderful welcome,” he said.

The 34-year-old ended his presentation by thanking Trabzonspor’s president for his support and confidence in him.

“I am extremely happy to be here and I thank everyone. I would also like to thank the club president for his support and trust,” Salah said.

Salah had spoken to reporters after arriving in Trabzon, where he described the scenes at the airport as unlike anything he had previously witnessed.

“There are 25,000 people here. I do not remember seeing anything like this at an airport before,” he said.

“Seeing this love and attention makes me incredibly happy. I even find it difficult to express it in words.”

Salah said he was looking forward to joining his new team in training and made clear that his ambitions at Trabzonspor were centred on winning silverware.

“I am very happy and I am looking forward to training with the team,” he said. “I always seek to win something wherever I go, and I hope we achieve good results in the league and in Europe.”

The move brings to an end Salah’s nine-season spell with Liverpool. During his time with the club, he played 315 matches, scoring 257 goals and providing 120 assists.

He now begins a new chapter with Trabzonspor after completing the formalities of his transfer and receiving a major welcome from the club’s supporters.
