Mohamed Salah to leave Liverpool after 2025–26 season confirmed by club

Liverpool have officially confirmed that Mohamed Salah will leave Anfield at the end of the 2025–26 campaign, bringing an end to a remarkable nine-year spell on Merseyside.

In a statement, the club announced that an agreement has been reached with the forward to conclude his Liverpool career one year before his current deal expires in 2027.

“Mohamed Salah is to bring the curtain down on his illustrious career with Liverpool FC at the end of the 2025-26 season. The forward has reached an agreement with the Reds that will see him close a remarkable nine-year chapter at Anfield,” the statement read. Liverpool added that Salah wanted the news shared early “to provide transparency” out of “respect and gratitude” for the supporters.

Signed from Roma in 2017, Salah has written his name into club history, winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, two League Cups and the Community Shield. With 255 goals in 435 appearances so far, he sits third on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list and has collected four Premier League Golden Boots plus numerous individual honours.

Liverpool stressed that there is still “plenty left to play for” this season and that full celebrations of Salah’s legacy will come later, once he bids farewell to Anfield.
